Meet the Teacher Behind Modz by Laila

Hi, I’m Laila!

I’m a certified special education teacher, tutor, and creator of Modz by Laila. My passion is helping teachers save time with engaging, classroom-tested resources while helping students become confident, successful learners.

My Story

I’ve been teaching since 2012 and hold a Master’s degree in General and Special Education. Over the years, I’ve worked with students with a wide range of learning needs and have spent countless hours adapting curriculum to help every child succeed.

In 2026, my family took a leap of faith and relocated from New Jersey to Lexington, South Carolina, where we now happily call home. I live here with my husband and our three amazing children.

After years of modifying nearly every worksheet, lesson, and activity that crossed my desk, I realized other teachers could benefit from these same practical resources. That’s what inspired me to create Modz by Laila.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that meaningful learning begins with meaningful relationships. When students feel safe, respected, and understood, they’re willing to take risks, ask questions, and grow.

Many of my best-selling products were inspired directly by my students. They shared the topics they loved, and I built high-interest lessons around their interests. Those lessons captured their attention, sparked meaningful conversations, and made learning fun.

Tutoring Services

In addition to creating classroom resources, I offer virtual and in-person tutoring for families in the Lexington and Columbia, South Carolina area.
